Salesforce.com Implementations
Implemented a variety of Salesforce.com solutions since 2007 with both domestic and international users ranging from 4 to 250 users. In all scenarios I acted as both project leader and subject matter expert helping companies define their sales and marketing business process requirements followed by solution configuration, development and delivery of the final solution.
My hands-on experience with Salesforce.com includes the following;
Configured Leads, Contacts and Accounts supporting API integration with the Eloqua on-demand marketing solution.
Developed robust lead assignment rules providing the ability to automatically route leads to various people or groups using either simple text based emails and highly customized HTML email templates with mail merge features.
Developed and configured custom fields, formula fields, multiple page layouts based on record types, work flows rules, multiple reports and dashboards.
Developed and configured various security controls using combinations of profiles, field level security, roles, groups.
Performed a variety of database cleanup projects including address cleanup, phone number syntax cleanups and various record code re-assignments. Experienced using Data Loader and the data import wizard with record quantities up to 20,000 rows.
Configured and implemented various web form to lead processing including auto-replys, auto-forwarding and lead assignment rules.
Implemented and configured various Apps Exchange solutions including project management, HR candidate tracking and reports and dashboard.
Performed data migration from ACT! to Salesforce.com
Developed process and HTML email templates which were used to perform monthly email blasts.
Configured and implemented Campaign Management, Opportunity Management, Lead Management, Contact Management, Account Management, Reports, Dashboards and Case Management.
Developed and documented detailed requirements and both functional and technical documents.
Directed the efforts of both domestic and off-shore development resources delivering highly customized functionality.
Provided demos and training for clients and staff.
Implemented Google Apps Education Edition for a private school which replaced a hosted Exchange environment and provided a consistent application environment for both PC and Mac users. I was the sole individual responsible for all technical, business and functional aspects of this successful implementation. This implementation resulted in an annual savings of $8,000 to the school.
My hands-on experience with Google Apps includes the following;
Consolidated and migrated all DNS management to GoDaddy for overall ease and rapid updates to DNS records. Also, created numerous CNAMES for ease of application access.
Developed the migration plan and presentation material to the school administrators which compared the differences and advantages between the hosted Exchange environment and the Google Apps environment resulting in a resounding approval to proceed.
Implemented the Google Apps Dual Delivery email methodology which allowed in bound email to be received to Google servers and then a forward to the old Exchange servers. This provided the ability to migrate at our leisure, creation of small set of pilot users and limited any disruptions.
Using Google provided tools, old email was completely converted to Gmail for 50 users.
Implemented Google Sync for Outlook for about 10 users who wanted to continue to use Outlook as their email client, while the remainder of the users switched to native Google Apps email via the web browser.
Oracle 11i Applications Implementation
Technical team leader and member of the executive steering committee for an Oracle 11i application implementation. Developed specifications, worked with the implementation consultants and converted all legacy Informix databases into a single Oracle database instance. Evaluated Oracle 11i hosting providers and selected Core Services. Re-trained or hired IT staff needed to support the implementation and on-going support. Completely upgraded the network to support 350 users at six locations across five states. Added pro-active, automatic email capability from Oracle to advise both internal and off-site sales agents of new sales orders, shipments and returns.
Sales/Marketing Web Site Development and Management
Implemented the MJ Research public web site which was out of date, unmanaged and inadequately hosted. Created a project team with managers in sales, marketing, technical and operations to define content and overall site goals. I was responsible for project management, developer selection and management, technical design and project status reporting. The BitGroup was selected to design and build the new site and the project was completed within 4 months. The new site gave the company a boost in visibility leading to an estimated five to ten percent increase in sales.
Custom Web Applications Development
Implemented custom web applications to streamline key non-integrated workflows in sales, finance, purchasing and engineering. Worked with key management to identify high manual labor business processes, developed functional specifications and generated solutions. Developed an automated sales quotation and literature fulfillment system, an automated opened accounts receivable invoice faxing system, an automated purchase order reschedule system integrated with ERP, product history via serial number lookup, and other applications.
Custom Shop Floor Quality Control Application
Implemented custom client server applications to monitor the shop floor production process by tracking and reporting key quality parameters and pass/fail determination. This application was integrated with the ERP system to leverage common tables and provided full serial number tracking throughout the manufacturing process.
ERP Implementation
Implemented a new ERP application (before Oracle) to replace a limited use legacy system with major database problems. Created an ERP project team consisting of key managers and letter process to identify and prioritize key ERP modules and upgrades. Developed a project plan and utilized SQL programming and customer port writing to implement solutions. Created a widely used, reliable and consolidated system and database which achieved immediate cost savings (inventory control, bill of materials, better business systems, etc.) and provided a platform for company growth from $24 million per year to $72 million per year.
Sales Support Leadership
Evaluated the companies single 800 number which routed calls to the main reception desk, resulting in an overload of incoming calls. Utilized the untapped capability of the company's telephone system and created multiple toll free numbers associated with specific advertisements and implemented an automatic call distribution functionality. Provided each domestic sales person with a unique toll free number with automated back-up to the main office. Significantly improved customer service and handled over 5,000 customer calls per month with direct routing to the proper individual.
Intranet Web Site Development
Created an internal web site for dissemination of all company documentation included secured areas for sensitive documents. This included sections for database driven master phone/fax listings, HR related pages, complete IT documentation, engineering documentation as required, links for custom web applications or queries into the Informix or Oracle databases.
Customer Management
Within the first week of hire at Pivot Point, Inc. flew to Atlanta to rescue a Minx customer whose data conversion programs were not working, thus slipping implementation date. Reorganized the project, performed much of the conversion directly by writing SQL script and effective conversion programs. Enabled the company to go live within one month.
